The Walking Dead, now in its second season, has riveted audiences with its tense undead action interspersed with human drama. Lately, though, the show’s seeming ignorance of how the morning after pill works has been rubbing some viewers the wrong way.

The part where Lori tried to induce an abortion by swallowing a million tablets of Plan B almost ruined the show for me. Like…really, guys? You really want to characterize Plan B as an abortion pill?
My sister-in-law made me feel a little bit better by speculating that perhaps Lori was just misinformed. There are lots of erroneous assumptions going around about Plan B, and Lori might have been a victim of pro-life propagandists. So maybe the show was trying subtly to make a statement about that.
I don’t really believe that, but it’s soothing.
